About Bela
I'm a Latina/Latino studies major with minors in Spanish and business. I've lived in Champaign my whole life and I really just love spending time at home with family and friends. I also like traveling, baking, and doing jigsaw puzzles! Here at UIUC I’ve been involved in Letters of Love and Volunteer Illini Projects, two RSOs that are easy to join.
Why LLS?
I chose LLS because it really aligned with what I wanted when it came to my major and my future career. I’ve always wanted to major in something community centered, where I could learn more about the Latino community and apply my Spanish minor.
Favorite Class?
My favorite LLS class has been LLS 479: Race, Medicine, & Society because of the many different themes we were able to learn about. Everyone always recommends professor Lira and this class didn’t disappoint! All of the content is super interesting and it’s easy to connect with modern day issues.
Plans after graduation?
I plan to get an internship in a community/nonprofit organization that serves the Latino community, hopefully in a community outreach or advocacy role. Eventually, I would love to make a career in that sort of field.
