About Juju
I'm a psychology and Latina/Latino studies major. I'm a first-generation Latine student who is from Chicago and whose family is from Mexico! I am a part of La Colectiva as Outreach Co-Chair and Intern in the Humanities Research Institute Odyssey Project. I love playing video games and dressing up!
Why LLS?
When transferring into UIUC, in search of a community I took an LLS film class and quickly fell in love with the field. I chose LLS because I wanted to have the background and experience to help and provide research to the Latine population in the psychology world!
Favorite class?
LLS 357 Literatures of the Displaced! An incredible class with an even better professor, discussing queer and Latine representation in literature, and the way stories are told within historical and modern contexts.
Favorite memory?
LLS Study Hours has been a wonderful experience as connecting with professors and fellow colleagues has provided academic and personal support!
Favorite spot on campus?
LLS Conference Room! It's cozy, filled with snacks, and always has something going on in it!
Plans after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to take a gap year where I will gain experience teaching students in elementary school. Following my year, I plan to pursue my Ph.D in Psychology or Chicana/o Studies!
